Qft versus Classical Gain Scheduling: Study for a Fast Ferry
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper a comparative study of two different control strategies is done: Gain scheduling with classic controllers (PD and second order filter) versus QFT. Both of them are used to decrease motion sickness in a high speed ferry produced by the vertical acceleration associated with heave and pitch motion. Copyright 2002 IFAC

Interactive computer-aided control design using quantitative feedback theory: the problem of vertical movement stabilization on a high-speed ferry
In a first approximation, the vertical acceleration associated with pitch motion can be considered as the main cause of motion sickness, which is without a doubt one of the most unpleasant disadvantages of maritime transport. The reduction of motion sickness can be stated as a monovariable regulation problem of a highly perturbed system. This work presents the design of a monovariable robust co...
متن کاملFuzzy gain scheduling of PID controller for stiction compensation in pneumatic control valve
Inherent nonlinearities like, deadband, stiction and hysteresis in control valves degenerate plant performance. Valve stiction standouts as a more widely recognized reason for poor execution in control loops. Measurement of valve stiction is essential to maintain scheduling. For industrial scenarios, loss of execution due to nonlinearity in control valves is an imperative issue that should be t...
متن کاملControlling a Class of Nonlinear Plants Using Fuzzy Gain Scheduling and Qft
The work presented expands upon previous research into the uses of fuzzy gain scheduling (FGS). It combines FGS with the robust control design methodology, quantitative feedback theory (QFT). By combining FGS and QFT the advantages from both methodologies are achieved, namely the resulting controller synthesis methodology provides design transparency, because of QFT, and does not suffer from ov...
متن کاملOpportunistic Scheduling in Ferry-Based Networks
Ferry-based networks provide a means of bringing extremely low-cost Internet access to remote rural areas, where conventional access technologies, e.g., dial-up, DSL and CDMA, are currently economically infeasible. We present an architecture for ferry-based networks and identify downlink scheduling as a difficult open problem. We argue that opportunistic scheduling policies that take ferry sche...
متن کاملStability Proof of Gain-Scheduling Controller for Skid-to-Turn Missile Using Kharitonov Theorem
Gain scheduling is one of the most popular nonlinear control design approaches which has been widely and successfully applied in fields ranging from aerospace to process control. Despite the wide application of gain scheduling controllers, there is a notable lack of analysis on the stability of these controllers. The most common application of these kinds of controllers is in the field of fligh...
